What is Fire-Rated Glass?
Fire-rated glass is a specialized glass designed to resist fire, prevent the spread of flames and smoke, and — in its most advanced versions — block radiant heat transmission. It is the only fire protection material that allows full visibility, natural light, and visual security.
International building codes (IBC, NFPA) require fire-rated glass in doors, windows, partitions, and walls of buildings where fire compartmentation is needed. Our systems meet these standards and are accepted in construction projects throughout Mexico.
Two Types of Protection
Blocks flames and smoke. Allows some radiant heat transmission. Used in doors, sidelights, and partitions with ratings from 20 to 180 minutes.
Blocks flames, smoke AND radiant heat. Functions like an opaque wall but with full transparency. Used in fire walls, exit corridors, and barriers rated 1 to 2 hours.

From 20 minutes to 3 hours. FireLite ceramic glass offers up to 3 hours in doors and 90 minutes in windows. Pyrostop walls offer 60 to 120 minutes of resistive protection. The required rating depends on the code and application.
Fire-rated glass only maintains its rating when installed in an equally certified frame. A 2-hour glass in a non-certified frame loses its rating and violates building code. That's why we always provide glass + framing + hardware as an integrated system.
